Window Style Options
The window brands we use have numerous window style options to
choose from, almost any window style, including special shapes can be
ordered.  Below are some of the most common window styles used.

Fixed
  • One large glass area.
  • Most viewing area of
    any window option.
  • Most airtight and energy
    efficient window option.
  • Does not open for
    ventilation.
  • Nearly infinite
    availability of shapes
    and sizes.
Fixed "Picture" Window
Double-hung Window
  • Most Common Window style.
  • Only the bottom sash opens.
  • Available with a half screen.
  • The top glass of the window is a
    fixed part of the frame, which
    make the window usually
    stronger than a double-hung
    window.
  • The bottom sash locks into a
    fixed meeting rail.
  • Available with equal sash
    heights as shown, or as oriel
    style with a larger glass area at
    the top.
Single-hung Window
  • Popular replacement for single-
    hung windows.
  • Both the top and bottom sashes of
    the window open.
  • Available with a full or half screen.
  • The sashes lock together where
    they meet.
  • The center meeting rail is smaller
    than a single-hung window.
  • Looks more like a traditional wood
    window.
  • Available with equal sash heights
    as shown, or as oriel style with a
    larger glass area at the top.
Double-hung Window

  • Common bedroom window.
  • One side of the window opens, the
    other side of the window is a fixed
    part of the frame.
  • The operable sash locks into a fixed
    meeting rail.
  • Stronger than a double slider window.
  • Ideal replacement for smaller twin
    mulled single-hung windows.
  • Can be ordered as an XO (left side
    opens) or an OX (right side opens).
  • Available with a half screen.
Single "Horizontal" Slider Window

    sliding windows.
  • Both sides of the window open.
  • The sashes lock together where they
    meet.
  • More versatile that a single slider
    window.
  • Ideal replacement for smaller twin
    mulled single-hung windows.
  • Available with a full screen.
Double "Horizontal" Slider Window

  • Consist of a fixed picture
    window in the center, then has
    an operable sliding sash at
    each end for ventilation.
  • Sashes lock into fixed meeting
    rails.
  • Can be ordered divided as
    25/50/25 as shown, or with
    three equal lites.
  • Screens at each end for
    venting sashes.
